The Maasai Drawings

The Landscapes
Carolyn Costa paints and draws in Mt. Shasta, California.

Artful Creations

The artwork produced by Carolyn Costa illustrates a unique and refreshing imagination. This Mount Shasta artist has been drawing and painting since she was a child. Mostly self-taught, she studied art in Paris at the age of 18. Returning to California she brought back with her an eclectic outlook on life at a very early age. Her desire for more travel and personal exploration has been her continuing education.

Her training has included graphic skills, photography, printmaking, and art history, as well as drawing and painting. She has an unusual ease as a multi-media artist. The subjects and objects she deals with reflect her vision of the world and show the diversity of her imagination. Her creations reflect a Renaissance attitude toward life and living.

Line, contour, motion, the exaggeration of elegance and the vibrant colors of the world are the dominating factors in all of the work produced by Carolyn. Her subject matter varies. The Landscapes clearly show a love of the natural world. The Maasai drawings come from personal experience working in Kenya. In the Music Collection she reflects on the Icons of her generation.

This collection of drawings and paintings are available as fine giclée prints. Some originals are available. Carolyn Costa has been producing artwork for over forty years. She has lived quietly in Northern California since the mid 1970's. She feels it is time to share her art with others.

"For Carolyn Costa, art is not a vocation; it is who she is and how she perceives the world. With color, light and line, Carolyn's art is letting you in on part of her soul. She is a master of numerous art mediums, each expressing a part of what she feels in her heart. From the sublime to the classic to the humorous, when you experience Carolyn's art, you are really experiencing the woman behind the creation. Alive, funny, deep and vibrant, Carolyn and her art are inseparable. Love the Rock stuff."
